Description

Pestemons deserve a place in every garden! In a sunny spot they'll flower uninterrupted from June until the middle of autumn.

Bees love visiting the tubular plum-purple blooms, each boasting superb white mottled throats.

This winter hardy and easy to grow perennial is a perfect choice for gardeners of all abilities and time constraints, masses of blooms emerge for months on narrow stems from a thicket of rich green foliage.

Superb grown in beds and borders alongside other perennials or among ornamental grasses, Penstemon like well-drained soil and forms large clumps across time, rewarding with even more flowers.

What�s more, this is an exceptional variety for drawing the attention of bees and other beneficial insects, having even been labelled by the RHS as a �Plant for Pollinators� � enjoy a garden teeming with wildlife in no time!

Care Information

Plants are best planted out in the summer, especially if your soil is clay as they dislike winter wet.
Penstemons do best in a warm, sunny position and are drought tolerant once established.
When planting, add well-rotted manure or compost to the planting hole.
Give your plants a good water initially, then only when the top compost starts to dry. They don't like to be left in standing water.
Plant approx. 20cm apart to allow them room to grow.
Water well until established.
Feed using a high-potash feed such as Blooming Fast Superior Soluble Fertiliser for Flowers & Fruits, to encourage flowering.

Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.

Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.
